Population Connection Unpaid Internships
Position Open: 09/06/2007

Population Connection may occasionally offer full- or part-time internships for periods less than six months in Washington, D.C. for college graduates, graduate students, and undergraduates with a special interest in population issues. Internships are unpaid and may be available in the following departments.

  • Field and Outreach: Organizing and assisting Population Connection members, chapters and activists to work to educate the public and influence public policy. Writing activist materials; coordinating exhibits, speaking engagements and special events; networking and coalition building; managing national speakers network, volunteer and intern programs.
  • Government Relations: Influencing national public policy. Monitoring legislation; researching and writing policy papers, testimony, articles and reports; networking and coalition building; assisting local activists to influence public policy on the state and local levels.
  • Media/Communications: Researching, writing and production of the quarterly Population Connection Reporter, fact sheets, special reports and other publications; assisting with media campaigns and specific events and projects; marketing Population Connection publications and merchandise; assisting activists to effectively influence the media.
  • Population Education: Promoting population education in schools (grades K-12) and through museums, zoos and other institutions. Researching teaching resources and education policies; developing and marketing teaching materials and quarterly educators.
